Use Santoprene™ TPVs for cost-effective, reliable medical devices

Medical syringe being filled by a male doctor in white lab coat

Santoprene™ thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) provide elastic recovery, excellent chemical and temperature resistance and compliance with medical market standards, making them ideal candidates for medical device applications, including:

  • Syringe tips
  • Peristaltic tubes
  • Seals and gaskets
  • Grips

Performance and reliability
Santoprene TPVs support:

  • Improved performance in seals, gaskets and syringe applications due to low compression set and long-term sealing ability
  • Repeated sterilization procedures, due to outstanding heat stability and chemical resistance
  • Durable and reliable peristaltic tubing components, due to excellent flex fatigue resistance

Sterilization properties
Santoprene TPV medical grades are suitable for single-use devices that rely on ethylene oxide (EtO) or gamma-ray sterilization as well as for durable medical instruments that must withstand repeated autoclave sterilizations.

Parts consolidation means lower costs
Excellent sealing properties and tight molding tolerances give Santoprene TPV 181-57W180 advantages over thermoset rubber in syringe plunger tips. The result is better performance at a lower cost. In peristaltic tubing, Santoprene TPV 8281-65MED can replace silicone components, providing a cost-effective sterilizable solution with improved chemical and flex-fatigue resistance.

Regulatory compliance
Santoprene TPV medical grades are compliant with USP Class VI and ISO 10933 regulations.
