Exxelor CMP Applications
| Technical Polymer Modification
Exxelor modifiers possess the characteristics necessary to improve the
performance of engineering thermoplastics and other technical polymers. This
is due to the modifiers' chemical reactivity and the inherent properties of
thermostability, elasticity and chemical resistance associated with their
polyolefinic backbones.
Exxelor polyolefinic modifiers are designed for use as impact modifiers,
compatibilizers, coupling agents and adhesion promoters.
Impact modification
Exxelor modifiers can improve the overall toughness of polymers. Under optimal
dispersion, the rubbery phase of the Exxelor modifier helps improve impact
strength and elongation. At higher levels, Exxelor modifiers can provide
enhanced ductility in polyamide blends at low temperatures (down to -40°C)
while maintaining good heat resistance.

| | | Compatibilizers
Exxelor modifiers act as a solid surfactant to increase interphase adhesion
and achieve compatibility between most commonly used polar polymers and
polyolefins.
Coupling agents
Exxelor modifiers also act as coupling agents to promote chemical bonding
between fillers, reinforcements and the polymer matrix.
Adhesion promoters
Exxelor modifiers, when added to non polar polymers, can enhance adhesion to
materials such as metal, thermoset rubbers and most polar substrates,
including glass.
